Most adults can take it daily as the label says; ask your doctor first if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, take blood-sugar medicine or blood thinners, or have a kidney condition. Jung Kwan Jang GL Pro Core is a 25 ml Korean red ginseng shot with banaba leaf and bitter melon, 23 mg of ginsenosides a bottle from 6-year Korean red ginseng, at RM389 for 21 bottles: see GL Pro Core on our Malaysia store.
We sell GL Pro Core, so general ginseng facts stay general here, and only our product page is quoted for what is in our bottle.

What is Korean red ginseng, and how is it different from Panax and white ginseng?
Panax ginseng is the botanical name of Asian ginseng. “Korean ginseng” means Panax ginseng grown in Korea; “ginseng merah” is the Malay name for red ginseng. The processing decides the rest:

- White ginseng: the root is dried, often peeled, without steaming.
- Red ginseng: the fresh root is steamed, then dried. It turns reddish-brown, keeps longer, and its ginsenoside mix changes.
- American ginseng (Panax quinquefolius, hua qi shen) is a different species, seen as the milder, “cooling” one in traditional Chinese use.
Korean honey red ginseng is red ginseng slices preserved in honey; Korean ginseng tea is usually granules or extract stirred into hot water. There are also capsules, jars of concentrate and ready-to-drink shots.
What is Korean red ginseng good for?
Traditionally, red ginseng is taken to fight tiredness, support immunity and keep going through busy periods. Ginsenosides are the compounds researchers study most, and products differ widely in how much they contain, so compare labels. Be wary of any listing that says ginseng fixes a disease.
The GL Pro Core box lists four red ginseng functions: boosts immunity, antioxidant, sharper memory and better blood flow. Its red ginseng, KGC05pg, is recognised in Korea by the MFDS (Korea’s food and drug safety regulator) for blood sugar, and our page says banaba leaf improves insulin sensitivity and bitter melon helps keep blood sugar steady after meals. So it is a red ginseng drink with an after-meal job.
Can you take Korean red ginseng every day, and how much?
Many people take it daily. No single amount suits every product, because labels count different things: dried root, extract weight or ginsenosides. Follow your product’s label, and compare products by milligrams of ginsenosides. If you take any medicine, tell your doctor.
GL Pro Core: one bottle a day, after a meal. Shake it well, drink the 25 ml shot and finish it once opened; no fridge needed. A box lasts 21 days, and 4 boxes take you through 12 weeks. Each bottle has 5 kcal and 0 g sugars, as printed on the box.
Who should not take Korean red ginseng? Side effects and interactions
Red ginseng is not for everyone. Some people notice poor sleep, headaches, an upset stomach or jitters, especially with lots of coffee. It can interact with blood thinners, blood-sugar medicines, some blood-pressure and mood medicines, and immune-suppressing drugs. It is not usually given to children.
GL Pro Core’s own caution is clear:
- It is for adults 18 and above.
- Ask your doctor first if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, taking medicine for blood sugar or blood thinners, or have a kidney condition.
- Check the ingredients for allergies, and stop if any reaction occurs.
Is Korean red ginseng halal?
Ginseng is a plant, so halal status depends on how each product is made and certified: flavourings, capsule shells and alcohol-based extracts are where questions come up. If certification matters to you, look for a halal logo from JAKIM or a foreign body that JAKIM recognises.
Our GL Pro Core page does not show a halal certificate. It does say GL Pro Core contains no animal-derived ingredients and is non-GMO, according to Jung Kwan Jang. If you need a certificate, check the box or ask our advisor on Messenger before you order.
Jung Kwan Jang or Cheong Kwan Jang: is it the same brand, and which product is GL Pro Core?
Same brand. Jung Kwan Jang is the red ginseng brand of Korea Ginseng Corp., also written Cheong Kwan Jang (正官庄). GL Pro Core is one of its products: a ready-to-drink red ginseng shot made in Daejeon, Korea, 21 bottles x 25 ml a box.
How to choose Korean red ginseng in Malaysia
- Origin and maker: Korean red ginseng (Panax ginseng), with the maker named.
- Root age: 6-year roots are the classic choice.
- Ginsenosides: milligrams per serving, not just “extract”.
- Sealed and in date: a broken seal or missing expiry date means walk away.
- A sensible price: listings far below RM389 a box may be old, repacked or not real GL Pro Core.
Every GL Pro Core box carries the barcode 8800255101253 on the back, so you can check it yourself.
